Step 1: Get the Video URL

Open the YouTube video you want the thumbnail from. You can copy the URL in two ways:

Step 3: Fetch Thumbnails

Click the Get Thumbnails button. The tool sends a request to the YouTube Data API to verify the video and retrieve metadata. This usually takes 1–2 seconds.

You'll see the video title, channel name, duration, and view count — confirming you have the right video.

Step 4: Choose a Quality

Available thumbnails display in a grid with preview images. Each card shows:

  • Quality label (Max Resolution, High, Medium, Standard, Default)

Note: Not every video has all qualities. Max Resolution (1280×720) is only available for videos uploaded after YouTube introduced HD thumbnails. Older videos may only have Default through Standard.

Step 5: Download

Hover over a thumbnail card to reveal the Download button. Click it — the image downloads immediately to your device's default Downloads folder.

Tips & Troubleshooting

Max Resolution not available?

Videos uploaded before ~2012 or those originally uploaded in low quality may not have a 1280×720 thumbnail. The tool only shows qualities that actually exist.

Private or deleted videos

The tool only works with public videos. Private, unlisted, deleted, or geo-blocked videos will return an error.

Mobile devices

On iOS (Safari) and Android (Chrome), the download behaves slightly differently:

  • iOS: The image opens in a new tab. Long-press → "Save to Photos"
  • Android: Direct download to Downloads folder

Batch downloading

Currently, the tool processes one video at a time. For multiple videos, repeat the process for each URL.
